FAQs
What’s the difference between museum-quality and standard preservation?
Museum-quality preservation is designed for maximum long-term stability. It includes a full unbleached muslin wrap and an archival box rated for 200+ years of safe storage, without a viewing window. Standard preservation includes a viewing window and materials rated for 30–50 years, making it a great option for modern gowns or those you’d like to view more frequently.
Can I open the box after I get my dress back?
Yes. Unlike sealed preservation boxes, our preservation methods allow your gown to be opened and accessed. We’ll provide guidance on how and when to open the box safely so your gown remains protected.
Is museum-quality preservation necessary for every gown?
Not necessarily. Silk, vintage, couture, or heirloom gowns benefit most from museum-quality preservation, while many modern gowns are well suited to standard preservation. We’ll help you choose the option that best matches your gown and your long-term goals.
Can my gown be worn again after preservation?
Yes. Our preservation methods are designed to protect your gown without permanently restricting future wear. If you plan to rewear your dress, we’ll walk you through how to remove it safely and what to consider afterward.
Do you offer in-person drop-off, or do I need to ship my gown?
We offer in-person drop-off and pickup for local clients, allowing your gown to stay in our care from start to finish. For clients outside our service area, we also offer secure mailing options and will provide clear instructions to ensure your gown is handled safely in transit.
How long should I wait to have my gown cleaned?
We recommend cleaning your gown as soon as possible after the wedding. Even invisible stains can darken over time, so earlier cleaning helps ensure the best long-term results.
How long does cleaning and preservation take?
Turnaround time is typically 3–6 weeks, depending on the gown’s condition, fabric, and services selected. If you have a specific timeline or need your gown sooner, special accommodations can often be made — just let us know when you inquire.
